SALVATION

We hope you enjoy these articles on salvation.  Begin by reading the article on "Salvation by Grace" and follow that with the articles on salvation and conversion. If you desire further study after reading these articles on go to the BIBLE STUDY page and work thru the "Bible Study Questionnaire."

First let us establish the scriptures teach it is the desire of God for all men to be saved (2 Peter 3:9).  This salvation which God desires for mankind can only be found in Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12; 2 Timothy 2:10).  Sin interferes with the desires of God for all to be saved because it separates us from God and causes us to be lost (Isaiah 59:1-2, Romans 3:23).  The good news of the gospel is that we can be saved from our sins (Romans 1:16-17).  You might ask how this can be done.  There is nothing we can do apart from the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8).  Man cannot earn or merit salvation he is totally dependent upon God's unmerited favor.  Salvation is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:9; Romans 6:23)

If we desire to receive this gift of salvation we must respond by faith and obedience.  First, let us consider faith and notice it comes by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17).  Without faith the Hebrew writer states we cannot please God (Hebrews 11:6).  Faith is essential if we are to stand justified before God (Romans 5:1)

The Bible makes it very clear that faith alone will not save us because faith must be coupled with obedience (Hebrews 5:8-9; Matthew 7:21; Luke 6:46). Even spiritual songs such as "Trust and Obey" make this same connection between faith and obedience which we can surely understand.  Simply put grace is God's part in regard to our salvation and faith is man's part (Ephesians 2:8-10). No one can believe and obey for you or for me we must make our own decision as God has created us all with free will (Romans 6:16-18).

On the mountain when Jesus was together with Peter, James, and John note what God said (Matthew 17:5) - This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, hear ye him. It is our desire and prayer that you will consider these articles and hear what Jesus has to say about salvation and be willing to render obedience to him!!!

2 Corinthians 6:2  behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
